Artist Bio

Born in 1950, I have lived in Tinicum, Bucks County PA most of my life. My art grows out of my lifelong love of Nature, exploring the countryside in all seasons with special attention to birds, plants, flowing streams and the myriad lives within and around them.

Has art kept me open to Nature, or has Nature opened my mind to art? These two compelling motives are the theme of my life. Making art outdoors, on-site, brings with it the study of light, shadow, the complex play of colors, atmospheric moods and layered transparencies - another dimension of ‘Nature’ that applies to man-made structures and objects as well.

My education started with art photography and darkroom work as a teenager, learning from my father, a professional photographer. Later study included classes at Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art and Bucks Community College, for painting and printmaking.
